The SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume - Book of Requirements

The SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume - Book of Requirements Version 4.5 is now out for public consultation for a two month period beginning 3 May and ending 5 July 2010. Click here to download Version 4.5 of the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume - Book of Requirements.

You are asked to provide your comments in a specific template and to return it to the EPC Secretariat. Click here to download the comments template.

Version 4.5 is based on the comments received in the 2009 public consultation. The many responders to the previous consultation are thanked for their extensive input. Nevertheless, not all comments were able to be discussed and included in this Version. Responders are asked to see

  1. the disposition of the 2009 comments  
  2. Chapter 4.2.1 of the Volume  - Functional scope tables which indicates what is out of scope, and what will be addressed in future Versions

This Version has been done under the Cards Stakeholders Group, a group of the Banking, Card Scheme, Processor, Vendor and Retail Sectors making up the Card Payments Chain.

Version 4.5 contains updates to functional requirements on (see Chapter 4 Functional Scope and Requirements)

  • ATM Cash withdrawals
  • Chip Contactless EMV Based
  • Unattended Without PIN
  • Card Not Present

Chapter 5 Security Requirements has been updated by the Banking Sector, based on discussion with the other CSG Sectors. This section is being provided for information. Only comments from the banking sector will be taken into account.

Chapter 6 Certification has not been updated in this Version and this will be done later.
