Agenda and Minutes of the 32nd and 33rd MSG MSCT Plenary meetings

The multi-stakeholder group on Mobile Initiated (instant) SEPA Credit Transfers (MSG MSCT), which is facilitated by the European Payments Council (EPC), held its 32nd and 33rd Plenary meeting on 23 May and 20 June 2022 respectively.

The MSG MSCT finished the processing of the comments received through the public consultation on the document Standardisation of QR-codes1 for MSCTs (EPC024-22) which closed on 14 April 2022. The document standardises a payee- and a payer-presented QR-code for all types of MSCTs, i.e. all payment contexts (person-to-person (P2P), consumer-to-business (C2B), and business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C)) while addressing both SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) and SCT payments. The final version of the document, including the changes to address the comments received was published on the EPC website in June 2022.

The MSG MSCT started to work on the generalisation of this document to Standardisation of QR-codes for (instant) credit transfers and intends to submit this new document for standardisation to the International Standardisation Organization (ISO) through a fast track procedure in Q4 2022. If this fast track procedure through ISO would fail, it would be submitted to the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).

The MSG MSCT also progresses in their further work on the interoperability of MSCTs based on Near Field Communication (NFC) or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The dedicated work-stream is still analysing new proposed MSCT use cases based on these proximity technologies, including some building on eIDAS2.0.
