The multi-stakeholder group on Mobile Initiated (instant) SEPA Credit Transfers (MSG MSCT), which is facilitated by the European Payments Council (EPC), held Plenary meetings on 30 January and 9 March 2023.

The updated documents on the Standardisation of QR-codes for mobile initiated (instant) SEPA credit transfers (MSCTs) (EPC024-22v2.0) and the Specification of QR-codes for mobile (instant) credit transfers (MCTs) (EPC193-22v1.2), developed by the MSG MSCT were published on 10 January 2023. The latter document was also re-submitted to ISO (International Organization for Standardization) process, following the submission of the document to ISO Technical Committee (TC) 68 Subcommittee (SC) 9 – Financial Services - Information exchange for financial services - for publication as an International Standard through a fast track procedure.

The newly developed document by MSG MSCT on the Interoperability of MSCTs based on Near Field Communication (NFC) or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) (EPC287-22v0.18) was published for a ten week public consultation on 10 January 2023, closing on 17 April 2023.

According to their mandate, the MSG MSCT started the maintenance of the document on Mobile Initiated SEPA (Instant) Credit Transfer Payments and Interoperability Guidance (MSCT IG, EPC269-19v2.0), in preparation of the third release of the document. A dedicated work-stream was established for this purpose.

They also discussed the impact on their work of the Digital Market Act as well as the recently received European Banking Authority (EBA) answers on the Q&A 2020_5247 and 2020_5367 they posted in 2020.

The MSG MSCT further agreed their work-plan for 2023 and resolved to request an extension of their mandate to the EPC Board in May 2023.

Finally, they continue to liaise and to monitor with a number of other standardisation bodies and industry initiatives related to MSCTs.
