Minutes of the eleventh and twelfth meeting of the ad-hoc multi-stakeholder group on mobile contactless SEPA card payments (January and February 2018)

The ad hoc multi-stakeholder group for the update of the Mobile Contactless Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines held its eleventh and twelfth meetings on 18 January and 23 February 2018 respectively.
During these meetings progress was made on the new white paper on non-NFC (Near Field Communication) mobile card-based proximity payments (MCPPs), covering Quick Response-code (QR-code) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) – proximity technologies. Besides presentations on several available market solutions, different MCPP use cases for these types of payments were analysed and discussed for inclusion in the white paper. At the February meeting European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) provided a presentation on the progress made on the new Smart Secure Platform, relevant for all types of mobile payments.

A large part of the February meeting was also devoted to the analysis of the comments received through the public consultation on Mobile Contactless Card Interoperability Implementation Guidelines.
