The ad hoc multi-stakeholder group for the update of the Mobile Contactless
Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines held its thirteenth meeting on 9 May 2018.
At the meeting, the last issues related to the comments received through the public consultation on Mobile Contactless
Card Interoperability Implementation Guidelines (
) were resolved. Related to this document, the GSM Association (GSMA) provided a presentation at the meeting on their new overview document on “NFC Functions and Security Certification overview” they had prepared in response to one of the
(Euro Retail Payments Board) Recommendations on Mobile and card-based contactless proximity payments (November 2015). The group agreed to refer to this GSMA document in the updated
. The latter document will now go through the formal approval processes for publication on the
website in June 2018.
During the meeting further progress was made on the new white paper on non-NFC (Near Field Communication) mobile
card-based proximity payments (MCPPs), covering Quick Response-code (QR-code) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) – proximity technologies. Different MCPP use cases for these types of payments were further discussed as well as the first chapters of the draft document were reviewed.
