The ninth and tenth meetings of the Steering Committee of the Mobile Proxy Forum (), which focuses on pan-European interoperability of person-to-person () mobile payments, took place in Brussels on 4 May 2017 and 13 June 2017 respectively.
The main outcome of the tenth meeting was the decision to launch a Request for Information () in order to identify parties interested in becoming a provider of the Standardised Proxy Lookup () service. The Market Implementation Working Group (MIWG) is currently preparing this for approval at the eleventh meeting of the Steering Committee, which will take place on 13 July 2017. If approved, the is expected to be published shortly after on the website.
A status update was provided on the activities of the Technical Working Group, the Legal Working Group and MIWG. Also, an elaborate discussion took place on the availability of funding for the service solution.
In addition, it was reported that the June 2017 meeting of the Euro Retail Payments Board (ERPB) had acknowledged that the originally envisaged deadline of November 2017 for the implementation of the service would no longer be feasible. The Steering Committee is hence expected to report back by the November 2017 meeting with a proposal on the revised and final timeline, the technology approach to be followed and the future governance setup for the management of the service.
