The SEPA Request-to-Pay (SRTP) scheme rulebook covers the set of operating rules and technical elements (including messages) that allow a Payee to request the initiation of a payment from a Payer in a wide range of physical or online use cases.
The second version (2.0) of the SRTP scheme rulebook, is based on the comments received in response to the three-month public consultation on the proposed change requests to the first version of SRPT scheme rulebook, which ended on 27 August 2021. It includes enhanced functionalities such as the possibility to populate an URL, the currency agnosticism principle and the request for payment guarantee.
The related Implementation Guidelines (IGs) were published on 16 December 2021.
The effective date of this second release is set to 1 June 2022.
However, the obligation to at the minimum exchange SRTP messages based on API to ensure full reachability will become effective at a later date, to be determined and communicated in due course.
