Call for independent candidates for the Scheme Management Board (SMB)

The Scheme Management Board (SMB) – the body responsible for the administration and evolution of the Single Euro Payments Area ( ) payment schemes will be renewed in 2021. In addition to the seats allocated to scheme participant representatives (maximum 20), three seats (including the Chairmanship of the SMB) are available for ‘independent members’. The invites all interested candidates to apply by 10 February 2021.

Joining the SMB means playing a central role in the decision-making process for enhancing the payment schemes and ensuring they keep meeting end-users’ and technical needs.

To apply for the position of independent member, the candidates should not be employed or be otherwise affiliated with an scheme participant or payment service provider communities, service providers or a payment services user group or user association. For more details regarding the criteria for independent membership of the SMB, please refer to the dedicated profile document in “Related Documents”.

The structure of the SMB, together with details on the internal organisation, rules and processes are detailed in the Payment Scheme Management Rules which are available for download in “Related Documents”.

The mandate will start in April 2021 for a two-year term.
