The Verification Of Payee (VOP) scheme developed by the European Payments Council (EPC) is based on Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). For enabling  cross-border  interoperability and reachability between participants of the VOP scheme - as well as between these participants and the Routing and/or Verification Mechanisms (RVM) - the EPC is developing the EPC Directory Service (EDS). The EPC is now launching a call for participation to the first phase of the EDS pilot.

The EPC plans to lunch the EDS on 1 September 2025, giving the VOP scheme participants and RVMs enough time to prepare the EDS use ahead of VOP scheme’s “go-live” date on 5 October 2025.

To ensure a smooth roll-out of the EDS operations as of the VOP scheme “go-live” date, the EPC  plans to launch a pilot for the EDS as of early May 2025. The pilot will be completed in two phases.

Participants in the first phase of the EDS pilot are expected to meet the pre-conditions for participation, as set out in the response form EPC111-25.

How to participate

Organisations interested in participating to the first phase of the EDS pilot, are kindly invited to complete and submit the response form via email to [email protected]by 24 April 2025 18h CET.

To submit your response, please use the response form (EPC111-25), which can be downloaded here. Please verify that your organisation meets the pre-conditions for participation which are described in the form.

The EPC will provide prompt feedback to all candidates, and those selected will receive a briefing prior ahead of the pilot’s start.
