The EPC Directory Service (EDS) is accessible by scheme participants and their technical providers (e.g. Routing and/or Verification Mechanisms (RVM) for the Verification Of Payee (VOP) scheme) through a Web Graphical User Interface (GUI), and through EDS Application Programming Interfaces (API).
Once the “documental” adherence to the VOP scheme is completed (see https://www.europeanpaymentscouncil.eu/what-we-do/be-involved/toolkit-new-scheme-participants/toolkit-new-verification-payee-scheme) the VOP scheme participants are onboarded in the EDS, and the users indicated in the Adherence Agreement identified by their email addresses (“EDS email address”) can be registered to get access to the EDS.
The “EDS Onboarding and Registration Guide” provides detailed information on how the users of the VOP scheme participants and RVM can register for using the EDS via the EDS GUI and APIs.
It also provides recommendations on how to choose the best option depending on the profile of the VOP scheme participant or RVM:
- Standard onboarding: for a full control over the EDS, including also access to the full set of EDS APIs, or in case of acting as RVM
- Simplified registration: for simplifying as much as possible their EDS Onboarding by using an RVM
The document also describe how to obtain a BIC, and specific actions to get access to APIs.
