In October 2025, the European Payments Council (EPC) published the updated version 1.1 of the 2025 SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) rulebook. This rulebook enters into force on 5 October 2025.
Version 1.1 of the 2025 SCT rulebook now stipulates that the 2026 date as of which the unstructured address format is no longer permitted, is 15 November 2026 (the initially determined date was 22 November 2026 as outlined in version 1.0 of the 2025 SCT rulebook).
This amended date is aligned with the November 2026 Swift Standards MX Release date scheduled in the second full weekend of November 2026.
Version 1.1 of the 2025 SCT rulebook has no impact on any other business or operational rules compared to version 1.0 of the 2025 SCT rulebook.
The EPC emphasizes that the SCT scheme participants, the payment service users and their respective technical service providers will thus have one week less in 2026 to make the switch from the unstructured address format to either the structured or the hybrid address format.
Here you find the 2025 SCT rulebook version 1.1 which takes effect on 5 October 2025.
Annex IV of the 2025 SCT rulebook version 1.1 lists all changes compared to the version 1.0 of the 2025 SCT rulebook.
At the same time, the EPC also published version 2.1 of the EPC guidance document - Provision of Addresses under the EPC Payment Schemes (EPC153-22). This document provides detailed guidance about the provision of the address of the payer and of the payee, in a structured, hybrid, or unstructured format under all five 2025 EPC payment scheme rulebooks.
