As of 5 October 2025, the European Payments Council’s (EPC) Verification Of Payee (VOP) scheme rulebook has officially entered into force. This marks a key step toward strengthening payment security and supports payment service providers (PSPs) in meeting the new obligations under the EU Instant Payments Regulation (IPR) amending the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) Regulation, which will become effective on 9 October 2025 for Eurozone PSPs.
