The VOP Rulebook states that the maximum execution time for the Requesting PSP to get the VOP Response is 5 seconds, and preferably 1 second or less. It is also stated that the Requester and the Requester PSP (PSU-to-PSP Space) may agree to exchange several Requests as single items or as a bulk VOP Request.
- Does EPC have any guidelines, or are there any plans to provide guidelines, for response times in the case of a bulk VOP Request? As it currently is hard to manage expectations with PSPs on what they can expect in terms of performance.
- What if we send thousands of requests in an instance to a single responder?
- May we expect that every responder can handle thousands of checks per second/5 seconds and in case of multiple requesters sending in a large number of checks at the same time to the same responder?
In the second half of 2025 the Verification Of Payee Working Group will look into the possibility to give guidance about the bulk process.
