The European Payments Council (EPC) has published today the SEPA Request-To-Pay (SRTP) Inter-SRTP Service Provider (SP) API Specifications marking a significant milestone for the SRTP scheme. This document completes the set of documents relating to the SRTP scheme, i.e. Scheme Rulebook, Clarification Paper, Implementation Guides (IGs), etc.
The new specifications, related to the SRTP Scheme Rulebook v4.0, describes the APIs designed to support the SRTP flow, based on the ISO 20022 messaging standard for inter-SRTP SP exchanges. It specifies the communication between the Payee's SP (client) and the Payer's SP (server), with the possibility of asynchronous callbacks via URL callback.
These specifications become effective on 5 October 2025 and are publicly available. It is expected to support developers, integrators, (Referenced) Technical Solution Providers, and SRTP SPs in implementing SRTP-compliant solutions across Europe.
