The SEPA Request-to-Pay (SRTP) scheme rulebook covers the set of operating rules and technical elements (including messages) that allow a Payee to request the initiation of a payment from a Payer in a wide range of physical or online use cases.
The version 4.0 of the SRTP scheme rulebook focuses on the need to simplify and clarify the SRTP scheme, while keeping it stable. It includes complementary reasons codes for clarity purposes, the definition of a number of options, the mandatory registration in the European Payments Council’s (EPC) Directory Service (EDS), the addition of sealing requirements for security purposes in the Application Programming Interface (API) specifications, and a simplification of the homologation process.
This version of the SRTP scheme rulebook will be effective on 5 October 2025.
